Pediatric & Prenatal Care: Dr. Albert provides care for pregnant women, as well as children of all ages. Many parents are bringing in their children soon after birth realizing that the birth process places a tremendous amount of stress on a newborn. There is a growing need for health care providers who use safe, effective, natural methods without side effects. Many parents turn to chiropractic care for their children, especially after trying conventional medical methods without seeing any results for many common health related problems.
Chiropractic care is just as important for the expectant mothers. Pregnancy is extremely taxing on the entire body and chiropractic is effective in managing the pains one experiences while carrying. At CCSC we use a specialized chiropractic table on which the pregnant mother is able to lay face down. This allows us to continue chiropractic care throughout the pregnancy term. Dr. Albert utilizes the Webster Technique in order to promote an ideal environment for your baby to develop. Therapeutic Exercise: Dr. Albert believes in active therapy. There is always a much greater success rate when patients take an active role in their own treatment. Therapeutic exercise is designed for patients to strengthen and correct their own unique problems. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic adjustments by as much as 30-40%.
Graston Technique: Muscles and connective tissues can undergo major traumas and/or repetitive stress micro-traumas. At the time of injury these tissues heal by laying down a supportive and denser scar tissue. An excessive amount of these dense areas of scar tissue are known as adhesions. These adhesions (similar to a trigger point/muscle knot) result in decreased mobility, altered sensory input to the brain, and altered functioning.
The Graston Technique involves repeated pressured strokes over lubricated skin using a smooth-edged instrument. These instruments help to locate the areas of concern and remove them so that the body may function as it was intended. It is beneficial in the management of a large variety of musculoskeletal disorders: carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain, headaches, tennis/golfer's elbow, fibromyalgia, IT band syndrome, joint sprain, muscle strain, lower back pain, painful scars, plantar fasciitis, and tendonitis. In most cases patients feel an immediate improvement in their pain level and the constraint of their muscles.
Myofascial Release: Myofascial release is an alternative method to treat muscle adhesions and trigger points. Trauma, inflammatory responses to trauma, and/or surgical procedures create myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures on pain sensitive structures. Dr. Albert applies manual-pressure at the site of the trigger points to facilitate their "release" and encourage normal muscle tone.
Kinesiotaping: As seen on most athletes in the Olympics, the colorful tape known as Kinesiotape is a valuable tool that Dr. Albert uses in practice. By applying Kinesiotape over injured muscles, ligaments, and tendons, athletes experience an external support which helps to prevent further injury and allows the body’s damaged tissue to rest while healing naturally despite continued activity. This tape works differently for different injuries depending on how it is applied. Kinesiotape stretches and recoils (like a rubber band) augmenting tissue function and distributing loads away from inflamed or damaged muscles and tendons, thereby protecting tissues from further injury. Kinesiotape also reduces inflammation and increases circulation which prevents muscle cramping and lactic acid buildup.
